题目: Is the Internet Making us Dumber?
演讲人:Mr. Mitch Margolis
Mitch Margolis holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in Film and Media Studies from the University of Florida.
演讲内容简介:
In almost every epoch of recorded history, one critic or other has lamented that society has strayed from its core values, people are doing all of the “wrong” things, and nothing is as good as it used to be. Everything *used* to be well and good, but now we’ve screwed it all up and are certainly headed for disaster, so the story goes. These kinds of “golden age” narratives are as old as time itself.
In this lecture Mr. Mitch Margolis will interrogate an argument that has been making the rounds in the mass media over the past few years - that the internet, and technology in general, is irreparably harming society – by destroying our attention spans, eroding our morals, and making us all slaves to our smart-phones.
