Although I have spent most of my adulthood in Beijing, I still consider myself a Sichuanese, with a detectable accent and persistent liking for hot and spicy food. I gained my bachelor degree of arts as an English major at the Sichuan Foreign Language University in 1993, and a master degree for business management at China European International Business School in 2007. My 20 years or so career experience can be roughly broken into two phases. The first ten years were spent in diplomatic service, half of the time in Beijing and the other half stationed abroad in Netherlands and Australia. In 2003, I decided to try something new. Leaving the Foreign Ministry, I joined an American consulting firm and worked there for two years before moving to Volkswagen Group China to head its Planning and Strategy department.
I have all along harbored an interest in language and education. The campus life that I had experienced two decades ago was a fond episode that I always wish to relive. Joining BNUZ is, in a sense, a dream come true. Besides assisting the students’ academic study, I also wish to help broaden their horizons by exposing them to a bigger outside world and orient their study to better prepare for future careers. Meanwhile, teaching is also a learning process. I believe there is a lot I can learn from my peers and students.
Over the past twenty years, I have had a mobile life and have traveled to dozens of countries across five continents. It’s great to take a respite in such a beautiful campus and work on something meaningful, interesting and spiritually rewarding.
