Mr. Tim Musgrave
Tim Musgrave is a thirty-something EFL teacher from the UK. He graduated from Leicester University and received a Bachelors Degree in American Studies in 1997. His early employment was varied, giving him an excellent chance to experience many different working environments and put that experience into use in the classroom. From working in sales in Sheffield, his hometown, he then progressed to Account Manager in a still image firm in London, Canary Wharf. Returning to the north of the country he embarked on an IT career which saw him split his time between London and Chesterfield.
In 2000, however, Tim experienced a stroke caused by a heart defect he had from birth which put an end to his blossoming IT career and forced him to rethink what he wanted from life. He came through this trial with a vigour that symbolises his tireless work in the classroom.
His teaching career spans five years to date; four years in Zhuhai, China and one year previous to that in Greece. A warm environment and the delicious food were the main reasons for Tim choosing Zhuhai above job offers in the capital Beijing, Shanghai and other more northern cities. Initially Tim intended to spend one year in China and then move onto other Asian countries, however, a love for the Chinese food and culture has seen him set roots down in Zhuhai.
In his career Tim has taught many different ages and levels through a multitude of courses. From 5 year olds learning basic English, to businessmen learning advanced business English; from teenagers studying for IELTS, TOEIC and other college entry exams to mature doctors wanting to enhance their language capabilities.
Recently Tim completed a higher certificate in teaching English (2010) and this coming year (2011) is looking to further that education with a reputable English university. His interests lie in blended learning and online learning and he is currently researching the use of Learning Management Systems in language learning. His lessons are generally well received by students who think he has a friendly and personable demeanour which runs alongside his teaching abilities.
