Mr. Sam Wilson
Hello, my name is Sam Wilson and I am a new arrival here at BNUZ. I am excited and privileged to be here and am looking forward to meeting my new students.
I was born in Alaska and lived there until I was eighteen when I moved to Istanbul, Turkey as an exchange student. I then returned to the United States and studied history in the George Washington University, and later at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I focused mainly on medieval history and Ancient Roman history because I enjoy the gritty, dirty reality of these time periods. I love looking at how people in these different places and times lived and worked and interacted with one another. I enjoy looking at the world leading up to major events and trying to understand what caused those events to take place. Hopefully, understanding the past will help us to better plan for the future.
After university, I moved to Brazil and taught English for a short period, before moving to Argentina for a year and later, Vietnam where I have lived and taught for the last five years. I enjoyed my time in Vietnam but I never really felt at home there so now, finally, I have made the move to spicier food, milder weather and the more relaxed atmosphere of Zhuhai.
I like to make my lessons interactive and dynamic whenever I can. I like to do role-plays and debates in my speaking classes and have a mix of essay writing and creative writing in writing and reading classes. I am hoping to work with you, my students, to make our classes together as fun as possible because I believe an engaged student learns best.
