The English Corner was held in the Library as usual on the evening of October 23rd. The foreign teachers who attended the English Corner were Mr. Charlie Reis, Mr. Sean McHugh, Mr. Tim Musgrave, Dr. Richard Stopford, Mr. Brian Anderson, Mr. Andrew Chun and Ms. Dulene Cipiriano. The topic was What Do You Think of Following the Trend.
The opinions varied from different students. Some thought that it was a reasonable thing to follow a model in their life for the reason that, as a particular pursuit, it would add some colors to the routine life. On the contrary, other students regarded study as their priority. They preferred to arm themselves with knowledge instead of being a copycat.
Foreign teachers also shared their own views. Mr. Tim Musgrave claimed it would do good to students only if they found a positive model, like David Bowie. Dr. Richard Stopford said that it was important to figure out who you want to be and what you long to get, and then just pursue and enjoy the process. Last but not least, Mr. Sean McHugh encouraged students “to be yourself”, as everyone was a unique individual in the world.
In today’s activity, not only did the students get a laugh out of sharing, but also they were inspired to live their own life rather than follow the trend. [Photo/Cai Shaowei]
