On November 14th, 2013, many students participated in the English Corner in the Library. The topic this time was “Dreams”. Dr. Phillip Stevenson and Mr. Ian McHugh were present.
Dr. Phillip Stevenson sat on the stairs in the lobby of the Library, correcting the pronunciation of a student who had a dream to be a broadcaster in the future and was fighting for it. A student asked Dr. Phillip Stevenson whether being a teacher was his dream, which reminded him of his past. He shook his head firmly because his dream was actually to be a soldier, for he was fond of adventure and travel. Unfortunately, with poor eyesight, he had to give up that dream. To pursue his ideal lifestyle, he finally decided to be a teacher in foreign countries.
Mr. Ian McHugh preferred to sit in the quiet corner. He was talking about different governments’ administration buildings, as well as the news around the world. Mr. Ian McHught, whose interests were literature, history, culture and geography, always came well-prepared so that he could explain the content clearly with proper tools. He was so considerate that he even offered some drink to the students. Sharing knowledge with the students, Mr. Ian McHugh said he did enjoy being a teacher.
Through the activity tonight, the students were inspired by Dr. Phillip Stevenson to follow their mind when seeking dreams and were moved by Mr. Ian McHugh’s enthusiasm about dreams as well.
