The School of Foreign Languages held a lecture entitledLaw and Languagein Liyun A102 at 3:40 p.m. on December 12th.The lecture was given by Professor Bao Keji, a member of China Association of Forensic Linguistics.
From his perspective as a veteran lawyer, Professor Bao analyzed the relationship and between law and language step by step. He began with the relationship between law and human, and then touched upon the field of linguistics. He came to a conclusion that law was equal to language. To make it specific, he explained the theory on legislation, judicature and law-abiding and other aspects In addition, Professor Bao elaborated on a number of right English equivalents of some Chinese legal terms.
The lecture was like a key, which opened a brand-new door for the students. It was a real eye-opener.
