The English corner this week was held on 28th of November at 6 p.m. in the library. The cold rain failed to douse the enthusiasm of students who had a very fantasy topic - How to Enjoy Christmas. The presented oversea teachers were Mr. Gerard Brent, Mr. Christopher Dockstader and Mr. Dallas.
As the most important part of Christmas, the traditional meal was always a popular topic. Mr. Dallas said when he was in Britain, the Christmas was always centered around the turkey, pumpkin pie and so on. Being asked the taste of the turkey, he said he prefered chicken rather than turkey or duck, which was too tough to eat. He also told the students that turkey was bigger than other chicken, and they could buy it in Jusco if they like. For Christmas in China, the most difficult for him was to prepare a big meal at home, as his wife would be too busy to accompany him. So he was considering enjoying their Christmas outside. Mr. Dallas also asked the students to help him to choose a gift for his wife. Someone advised him to buy some jewelry or perfume, while some thought buying beautiful clothes also could be a perfect idea. Finally, everyone agreed that the best way was to enjoy a romantic movie together.
On the other side, Mr. Gerard Brent said he had not got an exact plan for Christmas. But several days ago he found a Christmas tie, and he said he would definitely wear the tie that day.
Although there were still several days before Christmas, it seemed that every one had already had this wonderful western festival with the overseas teachers.
