In the beginning of a new academic year, eleven new overseas teachers arrived at our university. Among them, there are four having doctorate degrees and six having master degrees, either in literature, education or linguistics. Now there are totally twenty seven overseas teachers in the School of Foreign Languages from seven different countries, namely America, U.K., Japan, Portugal, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. The new overseas teachers arrived on September 10th and 11th which were also the registration days for the freshmen. The teachers were impressed by the beautiful scenery of the campus and the enthusiasm and energy of the freshmen, which made them excited and highly anticipated about teaching in our school. On Sept. 12th, Professor Tao Wenhao, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages arranged for a campus tour and appointed Associate Professor Xie Wenting, Vice Dean of our school, and Ms. Tan Yuanxin, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of our school, to help the new teachers with the residential procedure and get familiar with the campus. After the campus tour, Dean Tao and the other four leaders of School of Foreign Languages invited all the new overseas teachers to the welcoming lunch in the International Hotel to show the great honor of working with them.
The teaching quality of School of Foreign Languages will be improved to a new level with the new overseas teachers. Till the first semester of 2012-2013 academic year, there are totally 27 overseas teachers, occupying 50% of the teaching staff in the School of Foreign Languages.
