The English Corner this week was held on 4th of December at 6 p.m. in the Library. Today’s topic was Thanksgiving Day. The foreign teachers who attended the English Corner were Mr. Sean McHugh, Mr. Christopher Dockstader, Dr. Richard Stopford, Mr. Martin Stannard and Mr. Leck Wall.
When it came to the topic of Thanksgiving Day, some students said they sent a message to their parents to express their gratitude. Some said they went shopping because shopping malls had discounts. Being asked how to celebrate the festival, Mr. Christopher Dockstader said in America, Thanksgiving Day was a great time for family reunion. And traditionally they ate turkey on that day. Especially he enjoyed the warm moment when the whole family gathered together around the fireplace.
Mr. Leck Wall’s parents also came to the English Corner tonight, and his mother said she celebrated Thanksgiving Day this year in China and also cooked a turkey and pies by herself. In addition, she showed students the recipe for turkey.
As the time flew, the English Corner came to an end. Through the communication tonight, with a better understanding of Thanksgiving Day, the students also learned the importance of gratitude to life.
